Our Story

The Stargazer Cannabis Festival is not only a premier event but also a significant fundraiser supporting the Sensible Movement Coalition (SMC), a dedicated nonprofit organization. Founded by passionate grassroots activists in Ohio, SMC has been at the forefront of advocating for the reform of marijuana laws across Ohio and the nation. Our coalition has collaborated with numerous activists to mobilize, educate, train, and provide support, empowering local citizens to initiate changes to misdemeanor marijuana laws within their communities.

SMC is the proud author of the Sensible Marijuana Ordinance, a groundbreaking initiative designed to reduce the penalties associated with local possession laws to no jail time and no court costs. This ordinance has been successfully adopted by over 40 municipalities, safeguarding the rights of more than 3 million citizens.

The proceeds from the Stargazer Cannabis Festival are directly allocated to support the Sensible Depenalization Movement. Our efforts have made a significant impact in over 40 states where local home rule offers a pathway to amend unfavorable marijuana legislation. SMC has consistently offered its services free of charge to local marijuana activists, ranging from drafting legal language to hands-on assistance in gathering petition signatures. Our endeavors are entirely self-funded, underscoring our commitment to the cause.
